Well there you have it as if we didn’t know already. HAL presented their plan to government last week but they always knew they were not going to be the only player. I have been talking to these two main players on your behalf since 2019.
HEATHROW AIRPORT LTD
In June this year HeathrowAirport presented their £10bn plan for the five year plan starting in 2027. On the 1st August they presented their new plan including the third runway that will cost £49bn but will probably end up being north of £60bn.

ARORA WEST HEATHROW:
Surinder Arora also announced his Heathrow expansion plan. The “primary benefit” is a shorter new runway which would avoid the cost and disruption diverting the M25. Plus it wants Heathrow terminals to be run by independent businesses which provides competition and stops HALs monopoly. His costs £25bn without the new runway which will be £15bn.

But the question on the lips of our residents is what’s in it for us?
How can we mitigate the inevitable?
When will we be compensated?
How do we protect our community and find some consolation against what is to come?

I’ll continue to fight our corner and while we understand we are a small cog in the overall situation, we are also an important cog and we need to be more vocal so Heathrow understands the level of discontent in the village to get this over the line.
So while your daily news platforms will be FLOODED with those who think this, and experts who‘allegedly’ know that in an effort to try to convince us what is best. – I won’t be buying into that.
Whatever you read, nothing is going to happen immediately.

This presentation is actually the beginning (again) of the consultations that must inevitably follow.

While it’s true we can’t influence the fact that the airport will expand, that a third runway ‘long or short’ will happen. I am only interested in what we can achieve for a small village that is so blighted and will be blighted even more in the future – And WE CAN influence that!

The village knows we are back in negotiations with HAL but we are also taking to Arora. I had a call from Surinder last Thursday after he announced his bid on the BBC and we will meet soon to discuss.
We knew we were in this for the long-term (it’s now become the medium term), where we must get what we want and deserve from this airport expansion, and I’m determined to make that happen.
I had to sit on this post as I was waiting for a reply from Heathrow.
