As Deputy Leader of Spelthorne Council and as the Lead Liaison Councillor heading Spelthorne Councils Heathrow Team responsible for liaison and bi-lateral meetings we had meetings with the Heathrow CEO and his team.
CEO, John Holland-Kaye’s position was that while it’s accepted due to the Covid pandemic there would be delays that it was critical the third runway and the general expansion of Heathrow Airport airport goes ahead for the economy of the Country.
Our job is to find common-ground in relation to the Council’s 10 demands whereby we might support the third runway and expansion.
I asked John at one of those meetings was the third runway off the table for a generation or not. His reply was in line with his stated position that after the pandemic the expansion would come back into the public domain.
I told John as I had on other occasions that as soon as that happened, on behalf of the people of Stanwell Moor who should have been compensated decades before. That those residents did not accept his ‘new noise’ reasoning for not including Stanwell Moor in the WPOZ and the fight would be back on.
This was my promise to Stanwell Moor residents and it’s one I’ll do all I can to deliver upon!
